brief
To rejuvenate and breathe new life to a tired old woolstore building in the historic precinct of Pyrmont. Bordering on Darling Harbour, the building would be converted into a series of exciting new collaborative workspaces with the necessary services and facilities to support it.
solution
The historic building’s existing framework was carefully worked with and around, as we looked to enhance its features through this refurbishment. A large amount of natural light was brought in through the insertion of a generous-sized main atrium and a smaller sub-atrium. The series of warmly lit atriums naturally highlight the original timber framework of the building, in particular, its rustic and beautifully angled saw-toothed roof structure. The atriums also create a dynamic series of open workspaces that were especially aimed at creative industries.
