The existing Tantallon Grandstand was in a dilapidated state; offering a poor standard of facilities for spectators and participants alike. The local sports clubs approached Sissons to consider how the facilities could be upgraded to better suit their members – with the aim to provide a sustainable community venue that would be enjoyed for many years.

solution

Our solution is a simple pavilion, with a community room and changing facilities at its heart, flanked by the more pragmatic functions of public toilets and storage facilities for the local sports clubs. These spaces are unified by a generous cantilevered roof, which provides weather protection, as well as a place for the public to relax and cheer on their team. The building is intended to be simple and robust; a base for community sports to flourish both on and off the pitch.
